Chit Chat

F line/ coming home: This guy starts talking to me and Leila on the bus, "Look at you two... two pretty girls. (to Leila) You're as pretty as your mama." I thanked him, but I sensed something was a little off. He started telling me about the Giants game he was going to. We talked for a few minutes about that. Trying to keep the conversation from turning crazy, I started to chat about the weather. Always a safe topic, right? Wrong. It was really hot, and we both complained a little. Then he told me that he used to live in a bottom flat, and he had to open the windows to get a good breeze. But it seems the breeze would blow out his torch, making smoking his meth quite difficult. "You know how it is?!" Uh... nope.
When we got off the bus I said, "Take care." "Oh, I'll be fine," he replied. "I'm a trust fund kid with 6 mil. in the bank."

What to do?

F line/ going to art supply store: Normally I welcome the diversity of the bus. I think it's good for Leila to get exposed to all walks of life, and riding the bus certainly exposes us to all sorts of people. However, sometimes I get a bad vibe. We were waiting to board the bus and this guy was standing a little to close for comfort. He hadn't bathed in a while and was vigorously chewing his nails and looking our way. I didn't pay him much attention till he started grumbling. Now, I have seen some mental break downs on the bus before, and they ain't pretty. I certainly don't want to be caught in the middle of one with Leila. The grumbling quickly turned into cussing, something about a toilet, feces and a friend of his. So, what's the protocol here? I chose to wait it out, but as Leila gets bigger, I am not sure what the best move is. Do I move away? Wait and see? I am not one to say something, especially if the person is agitated. Tough call. Thoughts?

We're Back!

Sorry for the lack of posts. We have been on a extra-long summer hiatus. We are all moved in to our new place. It's been pretty exciting to learn a new 'hood and new bus lines. We also bought a car, but only because E needs it to commute to his new job. Speaking of which, he finally started work this week, so Leila and I are getting back to our routine. We have been back on the bus, with all the hijinks we have come to know and love. New posts are on their way!
