Just Another Day in the City

While walking to pick up Leila at her friend's house this afternoon, I noticed a group of police officers ahead of me, all wearing latex gloves and blocking the sidewalk. Obviously something was up, but I didn't want to jay walk across the street right in front of all of them. As I got closer, I saw a gentleman lying face down on the sidewalk, pants off, underwear half-off, fondling himself and chatting away. I heard a siren approaching, surely to come help this man find a more suitable place for his activities. I asked the officers if I should cross the street, but they just made room for me to walk on by. I was thankful that I only had Norah with me, who is too little to ask questions. Leila, on the other hand, would have had a lot to say about this man and his exposed "peanut" (her current word for penis).

Changes Are Brewing...

Hello forsaken readers. I am sure there are only one or tow of you out there that still check in on this sad excuse for a blog. I just haven't had much interesting to say.
I read this morning that the Muni Fast Passes are fading out this year and the Transitlink (soon to be called Clipper) will be taking over. I am glad things are being streamlines, but I am sad to loose the pretty little paper passes. It took me about 4 years to call them Fast Passes and not Metrocards (from my New York days). I wonder how long it will take me to get the name right on this thing. At least I won't have to hunt down a Fast Pass and scrape up cash at the beginning of the month anymore. Maybe my old Fast Passes, which I have been saving up for 5 years, will become collector's items.
In other news, come August we will be residents of Tyler, Texas for a year. It's a small town in East Texas and I still have no idea what to expect. I've never been there. I do know that it will be a big shift from San Francisco. I'm leaving the wine country for a dry county. Sigh. I plan to put this blog on hold and start writing about my year in Tyler. In the meantime, I'll do my best to catch up with a few bus tales here.
